Wot' about the "Kulchural" experience ? Andorra has a large number of interesting historic buidlings and beautiful churches to explore along with many museums and art galleries. For more information see the official andorran website .... http://www.andorra.ad
I fancy pampering myself ... what are the opportunities? In the heart of Soldeu village itself is the "Sport Wellness Centre" which is an amazing first class Spa facility. Built very recently, it has a capacity of 4500 m2 of water, making it the second largest of its kind in Andorra and one of the most distinguished mountain, thermal leisure and health centres in Europe. The reception area alone, with its open structure looking down on the four lower levels, gives you an idea of the magnitude of the building. This spectacular centre has various aquatic areas with indoor Jacuzzis, Turkish baths, hammam, fitness room, UVA, a large pool, outdoor Jacuzzi and a hairdresser, among other facilities. Here, you can also receive health and beauty treatment in individual units. All of this with views over the pistes of the Soldeu sector of Grandvalira. This is a great place to rest and relax after a heavy day on the snow and has the advantage of being on the resort’s doorstep. Carretera General s/n. Soldeu. Phone: +(376) 870 500. A little further afield in Andorra La Vella (a 30 minute bus ride) is the amazing SPA centre called "Caldea". This is a unique glass pyramid building with extensive natural SPA waters and comprehensive facilities and treatments. We can provide more details and information about booking. View all about Caldea at.... http://www.caldea.ad
I would like to "Shop till I drop"...! Can I? Andorra is a tax free state, with no retail tax on products. This makes for some great bargains in the shops right across andorra, but best of all in the bustling city shops within Andorra La Vella. Bargains can be had across all product ranges but particularly in perfumery, tobacco, alcohol and electronic goods. As you might also expect, Skis and Boots and clothing are also great value. Andorra La Vella can be reached within half an hour by local regular bus services which run from Soldeu village.
What about Phone and Internet Access? There is no phone service in the apartment nor do we have internet access available. However there are public telephones available within a minute of two walk. There are also Internet cafes available during the day and the evening at various locations in Soldeu village. Mobile phone signals are excellent in the village - and most popular mobile services operate well in conjunction with Andorras "Mobiland" service from STA.
I do not Ski ! What is there for us non-skiers to do? Listed above are many non-sking experiences to keep the non-skier fully occupied and satisfied. But there are also possibilities in all resorts for toboganning, huski-rides, skidoo rides and skidoo hire, cross-country skiing, rackette hire (snow-shoes), snow-biking, mountain climbing, canyoning etc etc. There are also many very good walking opportunities right through the winter season into the beautiful andorran valleys. | | Soldeu's oldest chairlift is closed | | Grandvalira has said farewell to the oldest chairlift in the ski station and the whole of Andorra, the TSF2 Espiolets, situated in the Soldeu sector. The chairlift, better known as the old Soldeu, inaugurated in 1963, made it's last journey on Wednesday 19th April 2006 in the presence of the village aithorities, neighbours and people who have been with the station since its beginning and even people involved in the building of the chairlift in the early 60's. The TSF2 Espiolets, which joined Soldeu village with the Pla d'Espiolets and which was an essentiel tool in the development of the station, has been substituted by a modern 6 man detachable chairlift which is able to transport 3000 people per hour, three times more than the old antique mechanical piece of equipment..... we will nevertheless miss the old one !
